Bull Testing Day

Despite the wind that made our teeth chatter and tried to scatter our materials everywhere, we were able to get all the bulls tested today to get ready for Sale Day.  Thanks to a good crew from Bear River Animal Clinic, Jeff Robison and boys, Robert Briggs, The Ottley Crew, and Barker Bunch we got through another big job safely and with good results.

Thanks everyone for a Job well done!

Flooding!

We seem to be getting all our moisture at once.  It rained all day yesterday, most of the night last night, and all morning long again today.  Here's some different views of the water boiling in the creeks & out!  Might need a canoe to get feed to the cows tonight.

Calving Season & Snow!

The babies are hitting the ground just as the snow is starting to come as well!  The Heifers were AI'ed mostly to Angus bulls Right Answer and Final Answer.  Liking how easy they are calving, but wish they'd come in the day time.   Temperatures were at 9 degrees last night. Checks made every 2 hours.

Babies came to the incubator to get warmed up & then back to Moms.

We need the snow, so we'll try not to complain too much!

Bull Feeding Time

The bulls are settling in at their new home in Malta, and this nice weather helped us to be able to get them all clipped up this week.  Now it will be Picture Time!  They know it's time to line up when  they hear Braden firing up the tractor and start mixing the feed.

Success Story!

We received the following letter from Rick & Bailey Fernandes, Dos Palos, California.  Thank you for sharing the pictures and update on how things are going with your heifer you purchased.  We wish you the best in the showring and hope for more good "babies" to come.

" I wanted to let you know that the Monopoly heifer (WS511) we
bought back in 2010 is making some awesome babies for us and we are beyond
pleased with her. Her first calf is out of our Ali son calving ease bull.
Her second, and most impressive, is out of a HooDoo Charolais bull owned by
a local club calf breeder. We are hoping to show her this year. I attached a
picture of her and her first calf (both are heifers and will stay in the
herd). We loved how the HooDoo bull worked so we bred her back to him again. By the
way, about half of our herd is made up of Barker genetics :)"
