Just for Fun!

Clipped up a couple of the showsteers today to see what they look like.  They look Good!  Amazing what a pair of clippers will do.  Gets us excited to keep going with the other 20 head still to come.  They were so mellow in the chute,  and walked out to get their pictures taken like it was normal business.  Tying them up is a lot of work for us, but going to pay off for those who choose to come get a Barker Cattle Showsteer!

This is what it's About!

Coming back from the Utah State Fair where we had a great time.  It was fun to see people in the barns and talk with others about the past year, cattle prices, what is ahead, and where we want to be.  It's always nice to be surrounded by those who are genuinely in this for the right reasons....The Kids!  We know that being involved in cattle shows around the country has helped develop our own kids.  They may not always love the work involved and the disappointments that may come, but they have been taught responsibility, work ethics, the importance of finishing a job, and gained friendships along the way.  We feel blessed to be in the Agriculture industry and the rewards that have come to us through that involvement.

The girls working on getting him ready for the sale..  A great big THANK YOU to those who lent a hand getting Charlee's steer out of the barn and continued to check in.

Trying to be patient for their turn to sell.

Showtime!

THANK YOU BRAHMA GROUP for the purchase of Charlee's Reserve Champion Steer.  We appreciated your support!

Time to clean up and head for home.

Showsteers & heifers corraled up

The showsteers and heifers for our sale in October are now weaned and in the corral.  Walked out amongst them today and was able to snap a couple of photos.  Going to be some fun ones to clip up and see what they transform into.

Lining up...Cool Whip, & Co.

Some color this year...couple of red ones will round it out.

Going to be UNSTOPPABLE!

Bull calves weaned!

It's a sign that Fall is coming.  We weaned the bull calves today at Elba and hauled down to the corrals at Malta.  Can't believe it's already that time, but as big as they were their mamas were saying it was time too.

It took us all to get them separated from their mamas and pushed down the road to the loading corral.

Exploring the new territory at Malta.

Looks like another good crop of bull calves to sell in March 2015.

Making Hay while the Sun Shines...and while it Doesn't!

The guys have been going around the clock working to get the hay put up.  1st Crop at Malta is done & in the stacks.  What a good feeling!

Tom running the baler. Nice to be able to do it in the daytime for a change of pace!  A little thunderstorm allowed for that.

Bowdrie on the rakes.

The Barley on the hill.  This piece of ground has only had sagebrush for a long time.  A neighbor commented how good it was to see the ground in production.

The barley in the valley all laid down and drying. Waiting for it's turn to be raked & baled up.

Ruel & Braden hauling the 1st pivot. Just baled last night.

View from the hill

Up in the stacks..looks so good!

Glad Ruel is still smiling..Get some sleep, Braden!

Headed to the Forest

Up Bright & Early with quite a crew to take the cows to the Forest Permit.  It looked like we might get wet for a while, but then it cleared up and was a perfect day to ride, enjoy the mountain view, and push cows.

A beautiful view of the Elba Canyon
