We hope you all had a good Christmas and we're looking forward to this New Year, 2017 and all the new adventures to come for Barker Cattle Co.

Thanks to the Clipping Crew for knocking out 75 head in 2 days!! Sure am glad they are able to do this for us. It's a big job to get ready for picture day coming up soon.  The registrations are coming in and catalog info will soon be submitted.  It's fun to have it all coming together, but what a big job! 

Love what you do!

If you can't be with family and love what you do for a living, life wouldn't be very worthwhile. We consider ourselves blessed to get to do both. Fall work is coming to a close as the first snow has hit the mountains and now in the Valley.

Brotherly opinions.

We love this time of the year, when it's a little calmer after the business of summer. Time to gear up for the Winter and all the work that brings with it. Might as well enjoy the nice days with cool nights The moisture we've been getting is making the grass grow a little too. Calves have all been weaned now and the mamas are back out to grass pastures.  Will probably have to wait until snow flies to bring them in and preg check since they seem so content where they are. 

A Very Happy 80th Bday!

We want to wish Ruel a Happy 80th Bday and hope he knows how much he means to us here at Barker Cattle. We appreciate the family traditions that he ensures are incorporated in our business as well as making sure all our needs are met.  As we get ready to prepare for the upcoming Steer Sale we are a little worried about doing it without him (and Kay!). But we wish them safe travels on their cruise and look forward to seeing and hearing all about their trip.

One more day of picturing is done.  It takes a lot of patience & time to get all this done, but it sure makes you feel good when you go back through and see what you accomplished at the end of the day. We kept thinking we would be able to get through clipping faster because they didn't have as much hair, but we sure didn't find that today. Getting excited for preview day, Oct 8th when people can come see  them in person.
